**Gerald Peary**, an American filmmaker, professor, and critic, is the author of nine books on cinema. His work has appeared in the _Los Angeles Times, Toronto Globe, Chicago Tribune,_ and the _Boston Globe_. Peary has directed feature documentaries, _Archie's Betty_ (2015), _For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism_ (2009), codirected _The Rabbi Goes West_ (2019), and he acted in the cult independent feature, _Computer Chess_ (2013).
